Divya: Finding Research Internships (Mentor: Sania) ~ Nov Progress

My main goal is to find and apply for summer research internships in fields like computer science, AI, and biomedical engineering. I want to gain hands-on experience that aligns with my passion for healthcare technology and ophthalmology.

This month, I focused on researching various summer research programs, especially those related to biomedical and environmental science. My mentor guided me in refining my search and provided resources to identify opportunities that align with my interests.

At first, I felt overwhelmed by the number of programs and unsure about their requirements. My mentor helped me break down the process by prioritizing opportunities and organizing deadlines. 

This month, I improved my research skills, learned how to craft professional inquiry emails, and gained confidence in navigating application portals.

My mentor has been amazing at helping me explore different career paths within research. She introduced me to areas I hadn’t considered, like business tech, and shared how various fields connect to my interests.

I love how my mentor always offers encouraging words and takes the time to explain complex concepts, making the process less daunting.

My mentor’s support has not only helped me identify suitable programs but also made me feel more confident in my abilities to pursue competitive internships.

My goals for the next month are to complete and submit at least two internship applications, prepare for potential interview questions, and continue researching more programs for backup options. I would like more resources on guidance for interview preparation and feedback on my application essays.
